Bounty

New Grape LeavesI think it's going to be a good growing season in my backyard. The grapes and raspberries that I brought with me when we moved here look like they're going to bloom and fruit for the first time since the move. So far no buds on the blackberries, but I'm still hopeful--they're looking healthy, lots of new growth. The unidentified Rubus species that I found growing in the front yard when we moved in looks like it might give fruit for the first time too, and the strawberries are positively bursting with flowers right now.

Summer residents like hummingbirds and chimney swifts are back, but winter visitors like waxwings are still around. The bugs are back, but so far not the mosquitos. Spring so far is a big success in my yard; if the drought we're currently experiencing doesn't do us in, it's going to be a lovely season.

Lovely site and LJ. I like that you write about plants and review products. On the internet. This would not be happening 5 years ago.
